It’s well known that movies and TV shows make last-minute decisions all the time. Deleted scenes, endings recorded several times, changed songs and replaced actors are the daily bread of big Hollywood productions.
This last aspect is the one that, for directors, can be the most difficult. Finding another actor capable of replacing the shoes left by his predecessor is not easy, more if recordings have already started or are about to start.
These are artists who had to be replaced by others, did they make the right decision or not? We leave it to your discretion.
Ruby Stokes in “Bridgerton”
One of the most recent changes was that of Ruby Stokes, who brought ‘Francesca Bridgerton’ to life in the Netflix period series. According to the American media ‘Deadline’, the sixth Bridgerton sister will be replaced by Hannah Dodd at the start of the third season.
His departure did not surprise many fans, since there were already rumors since last December. However, until now it was known who his replacement would be.

Stokes had appeared twice in the first season, as her character was traveling with an aunt. For the second, he was in three episodes and then disappeared without a trace.
The reason for his absence was that the actress participates in another series called “Lockwood & Co.”to which he will devote himself fully and for which he has resigned from ‘Bridgerton’.
“I love Francesca, but we lost her in the middle of season 2. After exhausting all other options, unfortunately he had to leave for reasons beyond our control,” series producer Chris Van Dusen told ‘TVLine’.
Douglas Scott in “X-Men”
Although it’s almost impossible to imagine any other actor than Hugh Jackman as “Wolverine”, The truth is, he wasn’t the studio’s first choice to play the famous superhero.
Dougray Scott, famous for his roles in ‘Relentless Search 3’ (2019) and ‘The Last Passenger’ (2013), had already signed a contract to be the protagonist of ‘X-Men’ (2000), however, he didn’t never reached the set.

He was a very powerful guy even though other people were doing everything to make it work
According to the same actor in an interview with ‘The Telegraph’ newspaper, had to refuse the role to devote himself fully to “Mission: Impossible 2” (2000), commissioned by Tom Cruise.
“Tom Cruise wouldn’t let me do that. We were doing ‘Mission: Impossible’ and he said to me, ‘You’re going to stay here to finish the movie.’ I replied that I was going to do it but I was also going to do the other thing. For some reason he said he couldn’t.”
However, Scott claimed for the same medium as he doesn’t blame Cruise and that he admired the work Jackman did with ‘Wolverine’.
Eric Stoltz, Claudia Wells and Crispin Glover in “Back to the Future”
The cast of this famous futuristic film series has changed several times. The most surprising was replacing Eric Slotz with Michael J. Fox as ‘Marty McFly’.
According to various US media outlets, Slotz’s departure came after six weeks of production on the first film, after producers felt he was unsuited for the role.

The change was so sudden that, years later, Christopher Lloyd told ‘GQ’ media that he had been very surprised by the decision“Stoltz is a terrific actor. I didn’t know change was coming. My biggest fear, because I was really working to get it right with ‘Doc’, was thinking, ‘I don’t know if I can redo (all the scenes)’.
For the second strip of the saga came the second change. Claudia Wells, who played “Jennifer Parker”the girlfriend of ‘McFly’, was replaced by Elisabeth Shue.
The reason for this change was the health condition of the actress’ mother, who at the time suffered from stage four lymphoma. Due to intensive filming, the actress decided to leave the production.
“So many things were happening to me personally that deep down inside, I never considered reprising my role And, deep in my soul, I knew that (leaving the company) was the right thing to do,” the actress told HuffPost in 2015.

As if changing the main character and his girlfriend wasn’t enough, the second installment also did not have the participation of Crispin Glover, who played the father of ‘McFly’. Although the change was very subtle and many viewers didn’t notice, Glover was replaced by Jeffrey Weissman.
According to ‘GQ’, there are two versions of his dismissal: a lack of economic agreement between Universal and Glover or a ‘voluntary’ departure of the actor.

Apparently, the artist didn’t like the direction his character was going to take in later installments, so he allegedly demanded a large sum of money so the producer would have no choice but to fire him.
Terrence Howard in “Iron Man 1”
One of the most memorable fan changes to the Marvel Universe is Terrence Howard of Don Cheadle, who played the character of “Colonel James Rhodes” in “Iron Man”.
His departure was highly controversial, as there was no clear version of what happened. It wasn’t until 2013 that the replaced actor brought up the subject on ‘Watch What Happens Live’.

According to him, his departure was mainly linked to the monetary factor. According to the media ‘CBR’, Howard was the highest-paid actor in the first sequelbut with the success of Robert Downey Jr. as “Iron Man”, the revenue flowed into the second film, which allowed the protagonist to earn more.
“Turns out the person I helped become ‘Iron Man’, when it came time to come back for the second, took the money that was supposed to be for me and pushed me“, said the actor.

We think this movie will be a hit with or without you.
Apparently, after signing the first film and signing a contract for three more films, the producers told Howard that his salary was going to go down.
“They came to me with the second movie and said, ‘Look, we’ll pay you an eighth of what we contractually had for you, because we think he will succeed with or without you”. And I called my friend and he didn’t call me back for three months.”
